Michelle Provoost (PhD) is a partner in Crimson Architectural Historians (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and director of the International New Town Institute (INTI). She works as author, curator and consultant in the field of contemporary urban planning and modern architecture. With Crimson she undertook many research and design projects and publications. From 1997-2007 she was a staff member of WiMBY!, an urban regeneration project in Rotterdam-Hoogvliet, realizing housing, parks, schools and exhibitions. In 2003 she wrote her PhD Hugh Maaskant. Architect of Progress on the influential modernist Rotterdam architect Hugh Maaskant. From 2008 she has been the director of the International New Town Institute, a non profit think-and-do-tank engaged in research and design projects for new cities with the aim of contributing to the quality of future urbanization, mainly in the fastest urbanizing areas of the world.
