Henk te Velde is a historian and obtained his PhD in 1992 at Groningen University. From 2002-2005 he was connected to Groningen University in the position of Assistent Professor of political culture of the modern Western world. Since 2005 he holds the prestigious position of Professor of Dutch History at Leiden University.
